Tetrapanax papyrifer BushOrigin: South China. Shrub or small tree evergreen, notable for its enormous leaves 50 cm wide, with 5-11 lobes, bottle green, gathered at the tip of stout shoots. In autumn is covered with white inflorescences up to 50 cm long, followed by spherical fruits. Wants well-drained soil. If damaged by frost, grows up again from the base.
