Robinia x margaretta 'Casque Rouge' (Robinia margaretta 'Pink Cascade', Robinia pseudocacacia 'Casque Rouge'), Robinia rossa
Tree native to the USA with an upright, rounded crown, initially spiny branches, and smooth bark. Deciduous leaves, brown at first then green, composed of 11-21 leaflets. Blooms abundantly in May-June with clusters of dark red, fragrant flowers 2-3 cm long. Requires a sheltered position from winds, is resistant to pollution, and has the same cultivation needs as Robinia pseudoacacia. Used alone as a shade tree or along avenues.
