Rhus typhina BushOrigin: North America. Large deciduous suckering shrub, broad and upright, often multibranched from the base, sometimes a small, irregular and picturesque tree. The young branches are curved, covered in a thick, velvety hairs. Large leaves, 15-22cm long made up of 11-29 acuminate leaflets, sessile, toothed, vivid green and bluish on the underside. Attractive autumn colours of red or orange. Flowers: dioecious plant with flowers grouped in dense panicles, up to 20cm long, the male flowers are green and the female ones russet which become beautiful bright red inflorescences which remain on the plant until spring. Adapts to all types of soil and withstands pollution very well.
