Rhamnus
A shrub native to Crimea, Morocco, and Portugal, with an upright and spreading crown. The evergreen leaves are dark green, oval, tough, and about 7 cm long. It blooms in late spring with axillary clusters of yellow-green flowers, followed shortly by fruit that starts red and turns black. It requires well-drained soil and is resistant to drought and salt spray. It is used in groups, hedges, and barriers.
