Hybrid between Q. cerris and Q. suber with thick, rough bark and a conical crown. Semi-persistent leaves, green on top and grey-green underneath, 5-10 cm long and 4 cm wide, rigid. Blooms in May with yellow catkins, and produces oval acorns 3-4 cm long. Tolerant of calcareous soils, used in parks and along avenues.
