Hydrangea quercifolia BushOrigin: USA. Deciduous shrub with strong stems. Leaves up to 20cm long, 18cm wide, oval or rounded, finely dentate, dark green and greyish on the underside. In autumn the leaves become wine-red and then orange. Flowers in June-July in upright panicles, 10- 15cm long, of small flowers, initially white and then pink. Requires fertile and cool soil.
