Hibiscus
Shrub with a dense, upright, and compact crown. The deciduous leaves can take various shapes, up to 10 cm long and dark green. It blooms profusely from June to September with axillary bell-shaped flowers in pink, white, red, or blue, with a dark red corolla and white stamens. The fruits are round, gray-brown, 1-1.5 cm in size. It requires fertile, slightly moist soil, suffers from frost, and needs heavy pruning in February to promote flowering. It is used for hedges and pergolas, in pots for terraces and verandas, and at medium to tall stem height for narrow walkways and streets, especially in holiday areas. There are many cultivars of Hibiscus syriacus in Europe, reproduced by grafting, in which the flower color gene is certainly transmitted.
