Gleditsia triacanthos -
Tree native to North America with a wide and sparse crown, trunk and branches covered with spines ranging from 8 to 20 cm. Deciduous leaves are composed of 20-30 leaflets, light green in spring and yellow in autumn. It blooms in May with inconspicuous flowers, while the fruits are very visible brown pods up to 45 cm long. It also grows in dry and calcareous soils, used for parks and avenues.
