Fraxinus excelsior
Tree with a large, oval, and open crown. Deciduous leaves are dark green, up to 35 cm long, composed of serrated leaflets. Flowers appear before the leaves on all twig nodes, with dark red blooms. Fruits are pendulous samaras grouped in clusters. Hardy regarding soil, prefers deep, rich, and fresh soils. Also used for stabilizing slopes and embankments. Tolerates cold, pollution, and sea exposure if shielded from salt spray.
