Fagus sylvatica 'Riversii' (Fagua sylvatica purpurea major)
Imposing tree native to England with an upright trunk and a conical crown in youth that becomes rounded over time. The leaves are slightly larger than the typical species, bright red in spring, dark red in summer, and green-red in autumn. The fruits are like those of F. sylvatica but have red hues. Cultivation requirements are the same as F. sylvatica; it is used alone in parks and large gardens.
