Our Plants
Diospyros kaki BushNative of China and Japan, where it has been cultivated for over a millennium, the persimmon is a small, deciduous fruit tree, increasingly found in gardens with its large, dark green leaves that turn orange and purple in autumn and its fruits crowding the tree until late autumn, bringing a note of lively, glowing colour. The yellowish-white flowers, on the other hand, in April-May are rather dull. Prefers temperate or hot climates, typical of the Mediterranean coast, but grows successfully in valley bottoms of northern zones. No problems as far as soil is concerned, adapts even to damp terrain, with sub-acid or sub-alkaline pH.
