Dwarf conifer with a rounded crown, with branches that are green, soft, and curved when young. The soft needles are 6 to 12 cm long, bright green in spring and reddish-brown in winter. It requires deep, well-drained, fertile, and non-calcareous soil, and a humid climate throughout the year, as it does not tolerate drought.
