Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet' StandardOrigin: England. Large shrub or small tree with conical crown which later becomes conical-rounded with spreading lateral branches, sometimes weeping; branches not very thorny. Deciduous, vivid green leaves, oval with 3-5 lobes. Bright crimson flowers in long and dense inflorescences in April-May. Fruit: small, red but rare and sporadic. Grows well in all types of soil, even calcareous. Suitable for growing singly in gardens and along city streets as it withstands pollution.
