Cornus kousa
Large shrub or small tree native to Korea and Japan with main ascending branches and lateral branches arranged horizontally on multiple levels. The leaves are bright green with a bluish underside in spring, yellow and red in autumn, oval, wavy, measuring 5 to 9 cm. It blooms from May to June with small yellow-green flowers surrounded by 4 bracts about 8-9 cm wide. It produces edible fruits similar to raspberries, red-pink in color. It requires fresh, slightly acidic soils, does not tolerate calcareous or waterlogged soils, and is used either alone or with other shrubs.
