Calycanthus floridus
Shrub native to the southeastern United States with an ascending light brown crown. The deciduous leaves are green on top and grayish underneath, oval or elongated, pointed or rounded at the tip. It blooms throughout the summer with dark red, very fragrant flowers about 4-5 cm wide. It is disease-free and grows in all types of gardens, used alone or in groups.
