Shrub or small tree native to South America with rounded crown and branches with gray, wrinkled bark. The deciduous leaves are light green and very small, similar to Mimosa. It blooms in summer with erect racemes with yellow flowers and bright red stamens. It tolerates sea air and grows even in dry soils.
