Tree or large shrub with a rounded shape. The deciduous leaves are gray-green, oval, and toothed. The male flowers are reddish catkins, while the female flowers are spherical. The edible fruits resemble mulberries. It grows well even in poor soils and is resistant to pollution, drought, and sea air.
