Betula pendula (Betula alba, Betula verrucosa)
Tree native to Europe and Asia Minor, with an upright trunk and pendulous branches. The bark is initially gray-brown, later becoming chalky white and peeling from the trunk. The leaves are light green in spring and summer, yellow in autumn, 3 to 6 cm long, oval and pointed. It flowers in March-April with drooping ochre-yellow catkins. It has no particular cultivation requirements and tolerates both extreme drought and humidity.
