Araucaria
Conifer with a cylindrical trunk and horizontal branches. The leaves are dark green, evergreen, thick, and 3–4 cm long, oval or triangular in shape. They cover all the branches and the trunk when young. The flowers are separate by sex; the male ones are grouped, the female ones are single. The cones mature in 2–3 years, initially green, then turning brown and releasing seeds. It grows well in humid climates, well-drained, fertile, cool, and loose soils, and some varieties are used for indoor decoration.
