Native to China, it is a tree with a wide crown. The deciduous leaves are elongated and 5-6 cm long. It blooms in May with yellow-green flowers, while the fruits are red-orange. It often grows wild, adapts to various climatic conditions and difficult soils. It is tolerant of sea air and pollution but is not very resistant to wind due to its fragile branches.
